What’s up with Hooba?
I haven’t posted in this blog for a while, the reason being that I’ve been hired at Ockam, a local web shop, at the end of the winter 2010. Hooba (the company) is no more (there are still a few bureaucratic things to be done, but I’m not invoicing or getting new clients).
My new job
For the interested, I’ve been hired as a web developer. I code things in PHP and Python, with a big dose of client-side HTML/CSS/JavaScript. I work with two incredible guys that have a lot more experience than me (a designer that comes from a big ad agency and a designer that learned his way through programming).
I spend most of my days writing code in a text editor, which is a perfect fit for me.
What will happen of hooba.ca
I’ve decided to keep the domain name and probably some elements of the design for my personal use. Most people in the industry know me through Hooba anyway. I did not have time to update the site yet, but it should happen sometime in the next year (I know, I know…). I’m not even sure I’ll continue to use Wordpress. The admin is great, but theming and customizing Wordpress just feels too 2004. Maybe it’s better in the new 3.0 version, but I wouldn’t think so. I’ll probably roll out a simple thing of my own.
I’ll try to post a few things a year, but don’t expect me to post every few days. Life is just catching up on me. I don’t have enough time to read (I’m currently trying to go through a book on Android and a book on TCP/IP sockets in C and I can’t see the end), traffic (construction in fact) is pissing me off (I have a hard time attending my kung fu class) and it’s summer (there’s always something better to do, which is good). I can’t image what it will be when I have kids!
